Overview

AceSAT is hosting a hackathon focused on closing the education gap for students in underserved public schools. Many bright students lack access to quality SAT prep, personalized tutoring, and modern learning tools due to their location. This challenge aims to bring together developers, designers, and educators to create innovative learning applications that prioritize student needs. The core of the challenge is to develop a true AI-powered education agent. Unlike a simple chatbot, this agent should take action, adapt to the student's progress, track their learning journey, and make decisions on their behalf. The goal is to create an intelligent learning companion that identifies student struggles, crafts personalized study plans, and actively guides them toward improvement. Participants are encouraged to explore various applications, such as adaptive SAT prep that adjusts questions based on performance, personalized study coaches that build plans and send reminders, reading and comprehension tutors that guide students through passages, or math skills builders that diagnose gaps and scaffold lessons. The ultimate aim is to provide underserved students with a tireless tutor they might not otherwise access. This hackathon is an opportunity for participants to build something impactful and contribute to a cause that extends beyond just coding. What to build

Participants are required to build an AI-powered education agent, not merely a chatbot. This agent should be capable of taking action, adapting to individual student needs, tracking progress, and making decisions. It should function as an intelligent learning companion that can identify student struggles, create personalized study plans, and actively guide students towards improvement, acting as a tireless tutor for underserved students. Eligibility

Participants must be 16 years of age or older and currently enrolled as students. Companies and professional organizations are excluded from participation. The competition is open to individuals from all countries and territories, with standard exceptions.

3. Start building your learning application
4. Submit your project before the deadline
5. Present your solution to the judges

Submission requirements

• A working demo of your AI agent, demonstrating a real student interaction flow
• A short video (3 minutes or less) explaining your solution and the problem it addresses
• A GitHub repository containing your source code and a clear README file
• A one-page write-up detailing the chosen problem, how your agent functions, and its potential impact on students in underserved schools

Judging criteria

• Impact: How meaningfully the solution addresses the needs of students in underserved public schools and solves a genuine problem.
• Innovation: Whether the project goes beyond a basic chatbot, demonstrating the AI agent's initiative, adaptability, and ability to act on behalf of the student.
• Technical Execution: The quality, functionality, and reliability of the application, including clean, documented code and a working demo.
• Accessibility: The realistic usability for students with limited devices or slow internet, and an inclusive, easy-to-navigate design for all skill levels.
