The Codex x TwitchCon Hackathon invites developers to create innovative experiences for Twitch streamers and their communities using OpenAI Codex. This hackathon is a collaboration between OpenAI and Twitch, aiming to explore the potential of AI in live streaming environments. Participants are encouraged to develop applications that enhance streamer-audience interaction, facilitate streamer collaboration, or add new features to live content. Participants will gain hands-on experience building with OpenAI Codex and the Twitch API, EventSub, and chat functionalities. The hackathon offers a platform for developers to showcase their creativity and technical skills in a competitive setting. The goal is to produce working projects that are both useful and engaging for the Twitch ecosystem. A total of $25,000 in prizes will be awarded across various categories. A significant highlight for the top 5 projects is the opportunity to be showcased on the Codex Booth stage at TwitchCon San Diego. Winners will also be announced live at this event. The hackathon encourages original ideas, allowing participants to build anything from elaborate applications to smaller, scrappy projects. The primary requirements are that the project connects to Twitch services and demonstrates the use of OpenAI Codex in its development.
Projects should be built for streamers and their community on Twitch using OpenAI Codex. Ideas can include streamer collaboration tools (e.g., helping streamers talk, play, or create together), audience participation features (e.g., Twitch Plays games, live polls, streamer distractions), or content enhancements (e.g., dice rollers for tabletop streams, live sports overlays, tools for IRL and science streams). The project must connect to Twitch (e.g., Twitch API, EventSub, chat, Extensions, overlays) and demonstrate the use of OpenAI Codex. Original ideas are encouraged over simply rebuilding examples.
Participants must be above the legal age of majority in their country of residence. Companies and professional organizations are excluded from participation. All countries/territories are eligible, excluding standard exceptions.
