ÉCU – The European Independent Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its 22nd edition. Recognized globally, ÉCU is a competitive festival that champions innovation and creativity, providing a platform for directors to present their independent films to a dedicated audience. The festival's core focus is on original and independent cinematic works that demonstrate quality, creativity, and innovation across fourteen distinct categories. Filmmakers whose submissions are selected for ÉCU's Official Selection become part of a vibrant community of creatives committed to pushing the boundaries of independent cinema. Since its establishment in 2006, ÉCU has become a significant force in independent film, gaining international recognition and often being likened to the European equivalent of Sundance. What to build

Participants must submit independent films that are original in perspective and made with less than 50% participation by a major studio or television broadcaster. Films can be in any language but require English subtitles; films selected for the Official Selection must also have French subtitles.

Eligibility

Submitted films should be independent in spirit and original in perspective. Films must be made with less than 50% participation by a major studio or television broadcaster. Films may be submitted in any language; however, if the film is not in English, it must include English subtitles. Films selected for screening must have both English and French subtitles (French subtitles are only required if selected for Official Selection).

How to enter

1. Submit your film by the relevant deadline (Earlybird, Regular, Late, or Extended).
2. Pay the applicable submission fee, which starts from 20 Euro and varies by category and deadline.
3. Ensure films not in English have English subtitles.
4. If selected for the Official Selection, provide both English and French subtitles for the film.
