Overview

DevonomicsV1 is an economics hackathon challenging participants to innovate how we manage money by creating technology solutions to real-world financial and economic problems. This event invites students to develop tools that enhance financial decision-making, analyze economic data, or make finance more accessible and efficient for everyone. The challenge encourages participants to focus on themes such as Fintech, productivity, or social good within economics. Whether it's building solutions for financial literacy, budgeting, or broader economic analysis, the goal is to create practical and user-focused applications that address current issues. The hackathon is open to students and professionals of all skill levels, allowing individuals or teams of up to four members to collaborate. All work must be original and created during the hackathon period, culminating in a submission that includes a project title, description, visuals, and a link to the code or prototype.

What to build

Participants should create a tech solution that addresses a real-world economic or financial problem. Projects can include tools for financial literacy, budgeting, economic analysis, productivity in finance, or solutions that promote social good in economics. The solution should be creative, practical, and user-focused.

Eligibility

The hackathon is open to students and professionals of all skill levels, aged 13+. Participants can join individually or in teams of up to 4 members. All participants must register on Devpost to be eligible. The hackathon is open to all countries/territories, excluding standard exceptions.

How to enter

1. Form a team (up to 4 members).
2. Pick a focus (Fintech, productivity, or social good).
3. Plan your idea (sketch, outline, or research your solution).
4. Build your solution using any tools or technology.
5. Submit your project, screenshots, and demo video to Devpost before the deadline.

Submission requirements

• Project Title & Description: Explain your idea, the problem it solves, and how it works.
• Screenshots or GIFs: Show your app, website, or prototype in action.
• Demo Video (Optional but Recommended): A short video (1–3 minutes) demonstrating functionality.
• Team Details: Names and roles of all team members.
• Link to Code or Prototype: GitHub, Figma, or live demo link.
• All work must be original and created during the hackathon period.

Judging criteria

• Screenshots and GitHub for project is submitted on time (3 points)
• UI/UX (design) (7 points)
• Creativity of project (30 points)
• Functionality of project (30 points)
• Real world application of project (Does it solve a real-world issue) (30 points)
