Graph Hacks is an online hackathon focused on building integrations for Cognee, an open-source memory layer for AI agents. Participants will contribute production-ready code to the Cognee GitHub repository and publish a blog post explaining their integration. Prizes include a top contributor award of $2,000 (or equivalent) and 20 random $100 cash prizes for merged Pull Requests.

Graph Hacks, hosted by Hacker's Unity in collaboration with WeMakeDevs and Cognee, is a month-long online event inviting developers to contribute to open-source software. Unlike traditional hackathons where projects are often archived, this event focuses on building production-ready integrations for Cognee, an open-source memory layer designed to provide real-time context to AI agents. All successful contributions will be merged directly into the main Cognee product codebase, ensuring their impact and visibility globally. The primary goal of Cognee is to address the common limitation of AI models, which start with zero context on every call. Cognee tackles this by ingesting diverse data types—documents, chats, code, and other data—and transforming them into an interconnected knowledge graph. This enables AI agents to reliably remember and reason across multiple sessions, enhancing their functionality and intelligence. Participants can engage in two main ways: either by selecting and addressing an existing integration-related issue labeled 'INTEGRATIONS' on the Cognee GitHub repository, or by proposing and developing a brand-new integration not yet supported by Cognee. Alongside each merged Pull Request (PR), contributors are required to publish a short blog post on platforms like Substack, Dev.to, or Medium, detailing the integration's functionality and real-world application. The event is free to participate in, runs for the entire month of October, and contributions are made individually. Graph Hacks offers a total prize pool exceeding $5,000. The top contributor, determined by the most merged contributions, will receive $2,000, with an option to choose between an iPhone Duo, a MacBook Pro, or a cash equivalent. Additionally, 20 randomly selected individuals who successfully submit a merged PR will each be awarded a $100 cash prize, recognizing broader participation and quality contributions.
Participants are tasked with building production-ready integrations for Cognee, an open-source memory layer for AI agents. This can be done by: * Path A: Pick an Existing Issue: Choose an open issue labeled 'INTEGRATIONS' on the Cognee GitHub repository and develop a solution for it. Examples of integrations include GitLab, Linear, Elasticsearch, Postman, AWS S3, or ClickUp. * Path B: Propose a New Integration: Identify and propose a brand-new integration that Cognee currently does not support. This involves opening a new GitHub issue to outline the proposed integration (up to 5 issues maximum per participant).
Participants must be of legal age of majority in their country of residence. All countries/territories are eligible, with the exception of standard exclusions.
