MDBA Youth Blockchain Hackathon

Overview

The MDBA Youth Blockchain Hackathon is an initiative launched by the Maryland Blockchain Association and the Blockchain Legal Institute. It aims to engage high school students in grades 10, 11, and 12, who must participate with an adult sponsor. This hackathon is designed to cultivate real-world skills in various fields, including blockchain, education, gaming, AI, LegalTech, and sustainable development, through STEM/TAG programs and community groups. Participants will focus on developing deployable prototypes that tackle societal challenges such as anti-corruption and social good. The event provides robust mentorship from industry leaders and blockchain protocols, offering students the expertise and recognition necessary to succeed in the evolving tech ecosystem. It seeks to bridge the gap between youth innovators and institutional pipelines, fostering a new generation of tech talent. Please note that the stated prize pool amount is currently developing and may not represent the final prize amount.

What to build

Participants must develop deployable prototypes using blockchain technology to address societal challenges, including but not limited to anti-corruption and social good. Projects may integrate elements from education, gaming, AI, and LegalTech.

Eligibility

The hackathon is open to high school students currently in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. All participating students must have an adult sponsor.
