ML Empowerment Build Challenge 2.0

Overview

The ML Empowerment Build Challenge 2.0 is a global initiative designed to help students learn artificial intelligence and apply it to real-world projects. This challenge combines structured learning, hands-on building, and mentorship to guide participants from beginner concepts to fully developed AI solutions. It aims to make AI education accessible, practical, and impactful, empowering students worldwide to learn AI and use it to create meaningful solutions. Participants will have access to a free, beginner-friendly AI curriculum developed by the ML Empowerment Foundation. This 12-lesson, self-paced program covers fundamentals of AI, machine learning, data, algorithms, neural networks, large language models, multimodal AI, prompt engineering, and ethical implications. The curriculum is designed to be simple, interactive, and accessible for anyone to start learning and building with AI. After learning the fundamentals, participants will apply their knowledge by creating a project using AI. Projects can include AI-powered applications, chatbots, assistants, tools that solve real-world problems, or creative/experimental AI projects. The challenge also includes collaboration with sponsors and partner organizations to provide participants with opportunities to try different AI tools, platforms, and APIs, offering hands-on experience with real-world technologies. Whether new to AI or experienced, this program provides resources and support to help turn ideas into impactful projects. The mission is to foster innovation and practical application of AI among students globally.

What to build

Participants must build a project that addresses a real-world problem or contributes positive social impact, using AI. Projects can take any form, such as a web application, mobile app, AI tool, game, productivity tool, or any innovative idea that makes a difference.

Eligibility

Participants must be above the legal age of majority in their country of residence and be students. Companies and professional organizations are excluded from participation. All countries and territories are eligible, with standard exceptions.

How to enter

1. Join the hackathon on Devpost.
2. Access the free AI curriculum provided by the ML Empowerment Foundation.
3. Build a project using AI that addresses a real-world problem or contributes positive social impact.
4. Submit the project on Devpost by the deadline, including all required components.

Submission requirements

• Project Title: A clear and memorable name for your project.
• Project Description: A detailed description covering the problem statement, solution overview, key features, technologies used, and target users.
• Project Files: Upload screenshots, videos, or other files demonstrating your project. At least one file showing functionality or design is required. Simple prototypes, wireframes, or mockups are sufficient for beginners.
• Project Link / Repository (Optional but Recommended): Provide a GitHub, GitLab, or similar repository link if available. If a web or mobile app, include a live demo link if possible.
• Team Details: List all team members and their roles. Solo submissions are allowed.
