The NABJ-Wall Street Journal Internship for 2027 provides an opportunity for college juniors and eligible graduate students to gain professional experience in various Wall Street Journal newsrooms, including locations such as New York, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. This paid program emphasizes practical work experience, mentorship, a comprehensive orientation, and tailored training sessions, fostering the development of journalistic skills. Applicants are expected to be self-starters with an understanding of the needs of a sophisticated digital audience across multiple platforms. The role requires the ability to work independently under deadline pressure, a commitment to high journalistic standards, and excellent writing and reporting skills. While expertise in business or finance is not mandatory, curiosity and an eagerness to learn are essential. Interns are encouraged to propose and develop their own stories and projects, seeing them through to completion with the guidance and supervision of an editor. This structure allows for a hands-on learning approach and the cultivation of individual initiative within a professional news environment. Eligibility criteria include being an NABJ student member in good standing, current enrollment at an accredited U.S. college or university, and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Candidates must have completed at least one prior reporting internship with a professional media organization or possess exceptional work published through a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
