Overview
Reverie Hacks 2026 is a virtual hackathon designed by students, for students, aiming to empower creative minds. This event provides a platform for participants to bring their innovative ideas to life within a supportive and competitive environment. It is described as the biggest and most unique virtual hackathon for students to showcase their projects globally and earn various prizes.
The hackathon features six distinct tracks: Ideathon, ML Prompt Engineering, Software Development, Datathon, Embedded Systems, and App Development. Each track offers a unique challenge tailored to different skill sets, allowing participants to choose an area that best suits their interests and expertise. Teams of 1-3 students will work on designing solutions within their chosen track.
The challenge encourages participants to explore creative solutions, refine project plans, design AI workflows, develop software, analyze datasets, create hardware solutions, and build mobile applications. Reverie Hacks 2026 emphasizes learning, innovation, and practical application of technical skills.
What to build
Participants must build a project within one of six distinct tracks: Ideathon, ML Prompt Engineering, Software Development, Datathon, Embedded Systems, or App Development.
- Ideathon: Develop a comprehensive project plan addressing an identified problem, including context, solution design, value proposition, customer segments, revenue streams, and cost structure.
- ML Prompt Engineering: Design and optimize AI workflows using LLM models (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) to achieve specific outputs through human input and structured queries.
- Software Development: Create a software solution for a unique problem, focusing on functionality, features, and user interface.
- Datathon: Use machine learning and data science techniques to analyze datasets, identify patterns, solve specific problems, and derive meaningful conclusions.
- Embedded Systems: Design hardware solutions like PCBs using ECAD software, starting with component selection, circuit design, and conversion into a PCB.
- App Development: Program a mobile application addressing a specific problem, considering UI/UX design and core features.

Eligibility
Participants must be 13 years of age or older and currently enrolled as students. Companies and professional organizations are excluded from participation. The hackathon is open to participants from all countries and territories, with standard exceptions.
How to enter
- Join the hackathon by registering on the Devpost page.
- Form teams of 1-3 participants.
- Select one of the six unique tracks.
- Build your project according to the specific requirements of your chosen track.
- Submit your project by the deadline with all required files and documentation.
Submission requirements
- **IDEATHON:**
* **Pitch Presentation:** A video (no longer than 5 minutes) covering the project's purpose and key details.
* **Project Plan:** A PDF document detailing purpose, technical aspects, mockups, logistics, and future plans.
**ML PROMPT ENGINEERING:**
* **ML workflow:** A PNG flowchart depicting human inputs, LLM queries, LLM model used, and actions.
* **Samples:** A video/document demonstrating workflow use for sample test cases compared to a single prompt approach.
* **Documentation:** Detailed explanation of each node in the AI workflow, its function, and necessary data.
**SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT:**
* **Code repository:** Complete project code uploaded to GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket, accessible with instructions.
* **Demo video:** A video demonstrating software functionality, features, and UI, highlighting key aspects and use cases.
* **Documentation:** Detailed Project documentation including purpose, target audience, main features, installation guides, user manuals, references, and configuration instructions.
**DATATHON:**
* **Code repository:** Complete project code uploaded to GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket, accessible with instructions to run/replicate.
* **Dataset:** A link to the dataset used, included in the GitHub README file.
* **Report:** A document explaining results, analysis, methodology, crucial decisions, and model evaluation.
* **Demo video:** A video demonstrating the trained model or results.
**EMBEDDED SYSTEMS:**
* **File directory:** Complete project uploaded to online storage (e.g., GitHub, Google Drive), accessible with instructions, containing circuit schematics and designs.
* **Firmware:** Relevant code if the circuit uses an MCU, included in the file directory (flowchart recommended).
* **Demo video:** A video demonstrating the designed product, highlighting key aspects and use cases.
* **Tech report:** A document providing tech specs and detailed explanation of the product.
**APP DEV:**
* **Code repository:** Complete project code uploaded to GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket, accessible with instructions.
* **Demo video:** A video demonstrating the app's features and UI.
* **Project documentation:** Detailed Project documentation including purpose, target audience, main features, installation guides, user manuals, references, and configuration instructions.
