The Sloan Research Fellowships, provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, are open for nominations for the 2027 cycle. These fellowships aim to support fundamental research conducted by early-career scientists and researchers who demonstrate exceptional creativity, innovation, and significant research accomplishments, marking them as potential future leaders in their respective fields. The two-year fellowships provide $75,000, which is awarded to the fellow's institution. This funding can be utilized for various activities that support the fellow's research, including but not limited to equipment purchases, technical assistance, summer salary support, professional travel, or trainee support, offering flexibility to advance their scientific endeavors. Nominations are sought from outstanding early-career researchers in the fields of chemistry, computer science, Earth system science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, and physics. The Foundation particularly looks for candidates with a track record of independent research that highlights creativity, initiative, and the potential for substantial contributions to the scientific community. Eligibility criteria require candidates to hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in one of the specified fields or a related discipline. They must also be tenure-track, though untenured, faculty members at a degree-granting institution in the U.S. or Canada, with a regular teaching obligation.
