Submit your short films to the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2027 for free. The deadline is December 10, 2026, with opportunities to attend an industry program in Los Angeles.

The Sony Future Filmmaker Awards have officially opened for entries for their 2027 edition, inviting filmmakers globally to submit their short films free of charge. Now in its fifth year, the program continues to expand, providing an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to display their work on a global platform, cultivate industry connections, and enhance their craft through a dedicated industry program. A significant addition this year is the introduction of a new Immersive category, presented by Meta. This category aims to acknowledge and celebrate how immersive formats are broadening the scope of storytelling experiences. This new category joins the existing Fiction, Non-Fiction, Animation, Student, and Future Format categories, bringing the total number of award categories to six. Filmmakers behind 34 shortlisted films will be provided with round-trip airfare to Los Angeles to participate in a four-day industry program. This program will take place on the Sony Pictures Studios lot and is designed to help elevate their careers. Participants will gain insights from Sony Pictures executives through a series of workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, screenings, demonstrations, tours, and Q&A sessions. The program concludes with a red carpet Awards ceremony held on the Sony Pictures Studios lot. This event offers shortlisted filmmakers the chance to celebrate their achievements alongside peers and network with industry experts. Filmmakers at all career stages are encouraged to enter the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2027.
