UGREEN Hackathon 2026 on AI NAS

Overview

The UGREEN Hackathon 2026 on AI NAS invites developers to create innovative AI Skills that operate on UGREEN's AI NAS devices. This hackathon leverages UGOS, UGREEN's Linux-based operating system, and the Skills Hub, providing a platform that integrates local storage, computing, and AI capabilities. Developers are encouraged to use the UGOS Skill Creation Tool along with their preferred AI assistant to build custom Skills that enhance file organization, information retrieval, and automation of daily tasks. Participants will gain access to comprehensive developer resources and technical support from UGREEN. The hackathon features a two-round structure: Round 1 requires the submission of an idea and an early build of the Skill without needing a physical NAS, using the UGREEN Skill Developer Package. Round 2 is for selected finalists, who will receive free remote access to a UGREEN AI NAS iDX6011 Pro environment for final development, testing, and validation of their Skills. The competition aims to expand the functionalities of AI NAS, offering developers the freedom to explore new concepts and create tools that add significant value. While competing for a share of the $46,000 prize pool, participants also have the opportunity for exposure through UGREEN and potential future collaborations. No UGREEN NAS is required for initial entry, making the first round accessible to a wide range of developers. The hackathon particularly emphasizes leveraging the UGREEN AI NAS's native capabilities for tasks such as organizing files, extracting information, generating summaries, and automating workflows. The focus is on practical, user-centric solutions that demonstrate innovation and technical quality within the UGREEN ecosystem.

What to build

An AI Skill that runs on UGREEN AI NAS, utilizing the UGREEN Skill Developer Package and its technical documentation. Participants must choose one track that best fits their Skill: - Automate Your Workflow: Build an AI Skill that uses authorized NAS files and data, along with provided file, document, knowledge, and system capabilities, to organize content, extract information, generate summaries, and streamline repetitive tasks. - Bring Memories to Life: Build an AI Skill that works with authorized photos, videos, and documents stored on UGREEN AI NAS to organize or search content, extract text, generate summaries, or create albums. - Unleash Your Creativity: Build an AI Skill that helps photographers, editors, designers, and other content creators search, tag, select, organize, and review media stored on UGREEN AI NAS, making creative preparation faster and more efficient. - Open Innovation: Go beyond the defined tracks by combining the NAS, AI, media, file, and knowledge capabilities provided to build an original AI Skill that addresses a real user need and runs on UGREEN AI NAS.

How to enter

1. Get to know UGREEN AI NAS.
2. Join the UGREEN Community.
3. Download the UGREEN Skill Developer Package.
4. Brush up on helpful skills such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, Linux and Docker, AI agent and tool design, and file or media processing.

Submission requirements

• Round 1: Submit a Project Proposal (PDF) and a Pre-test Skill Package (ZIP) by November 15, 2026, 11:45 pm PT. The Project Proposal must address ten specific items in no more than 500 English words. The Pre-test Skill Package must follow the Uliya Skill Development Standard, be no larger than 10 MB (ZIP) or 10 MB (uncompressed), with max 1 MB per file and 100 files. It must include SKILL.md and optionally References. Disclose third-party components and AI tools used.
• Round 2 (Finalists only): Submit a Final Skill Package (ZIP) and a Demo video (public YouTube link, max 3 minutes, English narration/subtitles) by November 30, 2026, 11:45 pm PT. The Final Skill Package must operate on the assigned UGREEN AI NAS. The demo video must show the Skill operating on the assigned NAS.

Judging criteria

• User Value: Does the Skill solve a clear user problem? Does it provide a clear workflow, useful feedback, and a real result?
• Innovation & Differentiation: Does the Skill offer a new function, interaction, or workflow that is different from common AI tools and existing solutions?
• Technical Quality: Do the core and repeat-use cases work? Does the Skill handle errors and edge cases? Does it manage data, permissions, credentials, outside services, and versions well? Do the docs and dependencies support install, setup, removal, and testing?
• AI NAS Fit & Validation: Do UGREEN AI NAS features add real value to the Skill? Does the Skill use NAS resources well?
