The University of Portsmouth offers a 20% tuition fee discount to its alumni pursuing Master's or PhD programs. This discount is automatically applied if the applicant and their chosen course meet the specified eligibility criteria, eliminating the need for a separate application process. The discount can be utilized multiple times, with the condition that each subsequent course is at a higher academic level than the previous one. To qualify for this discount, applicants must have previously obtained a Bachelor's, Master’s, Integrated Master’s, LLB, or PGCE degree from the University of Portsmouth or a collaborative institution. An exception exists for those holding both an undergraduate degree and a PGCE from Portsmouth, or a full stand-alone Master's, who can receive the discount for another full Master's qualification. The intended course for the discount must be of a higher academic level than the qualification from which the student is progressing. Financial considerations also play a role in eligibility. The discount is primarily for students who are self-funding their studies. If a student is partially sponsored, the discount will only apply to the portion of fees they are responsible for. Furthermore, students cannot concurrently accept any other University Bursary or Scholarship with the alumni tuition fee discount. Certain courses are explicitly excluded from this discount, often due to existing government funding or specific progression awards. These non-eligible courses include various PGCE programs, specific MEng, MArch, MMath, MPharm, MPhys, MN, and MSc (Pre-registration) degrees, as well as PgCert, PgDip, Master’s Top-Up, Foundation degrees, and HNDs.
