The WomenLift Health Southern Africa Leadership Journey 2027 is a comprehensive, fully-funded 12-month program aimed at developing women leaders in the health sector. This initiative provides participants with a supportive environment to explore their authentic leadership style through reflection and vulnerability, fostering a strong sense of belonging within a diverse and inclusive network. Participants will gain access to tools and strategies specifically designed to enhance their voice, presence, and influence. The program is structured to address the unique individual, institutional, and health sector challenges faced by women leaders in global health today, offering contextualized frameworks and support from a powerful community of peers, mentors, and coaches. Key components of the program include two in-person experiential learning residencies, named Immersion and Lift-Off. These residencies are complemented by virtual learning touchpoints, virtual group mentoring sessions, and virtual one-on-one coaching. A significant aspect of the journey is a self-directed Health Leadership Project, allowing participants to apply their learning in a practical setting. All program costs, including travel and lodging for the in-person residencies, are fully covered. This ensures accessibility for eligible women leaders across Southern Africa who meet the specified criteria, including residency, work experience, and language fluency.
Participants are required to undertake a self-directed Health Leadership Project.
Applicants must meet all the following criteria: identify as a woman; demonstrate fluency and confidence in both written and verbal English communication, including the ability to articulate emotions, participate in reflective dialogue, engage in complex interpersonal conversations, and integrate leadership development concepts; be a citizen who resides and works within Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, eSwatini, Zambia, or Zimbabwe; live in CAT (+/-1 hour) time zones for at least 75% of the program duration to ensure participation in touchpoints and engagement with peers; be a mid-career leader with 10–25 years of work experience in health++. Health++ is defined as requiring coordinated action across interconnected fields that shape and enable health, such as climate change, food systems, agriculture, water and sanitation, education, economic policy, gender equity, and technology. WomenLift Health is committed to selecting diverse cohort members representing different sectors (public, private, academia, NGO, philanthropy), disciplines, and cultural backgrounds.
