This pioneering Master's program, new for 2024, focuses on achieving net-zero emissions through advanced chemical engineering principles applied to hydrogen and low-carbon technologies. It's the first of its kind in the UK and takes an interdisciplinary approach, collaborating with departments like mechanical, aerospace, civil, environmental, and social sciences to provide a holistic view of low-carbon technologies and their surrounding issues. Taught by world-leading academics, the course covers topics such as hydrogen production, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), biorefineries, and fuel cells. The teaching methodology is blended, incorporating interactive sessions, lectures, tutorials, and active learning through discussions. You'll gain practical experience in Brunel's well-equipped chemical engineering facilities, undertaking project work that includes computational modelling and laboratory experiments. The program aims to equip graduates with a comprehensive understanding of emerging low-carbon technologies, alongside interdisciplinary knowledge in environmental sustainability, climate change politics, and project management. Tuition fees are for the 2026/27 academic year.
Applicants should have a 2:2 or above in an undergraduate degree in Chemical, Aerospace, Mechanical and Automotive, Environmental, Civil Engineering, or Physics.
For the 2026/27 academic year, international students will pay £24,795 per year in tuition fees.
