This MSc programme is designed for graduates with a background in computing who wish to deepen their expertise in advanced areas of the discipline. It provides exposure to current topics that are driving technological advancements and trends. The programme allows you to specialize in one of three research areas: complex systems, visual computing, or data and knowledge engineering. You will develop advanced problem-solving skills, learn new programming paradigms, and gain a broad understanding of contemporary computer science topics through research-led optional modules. This course aims to equip you with advanced skills and knowledge to distinguish yourself in the rapidly evolving field of computer science.
Curriculum
The MSc Advanced Computer Science is a full-time, one-year programme. It comprises 120 credits of taught modules followed by a 60-credit individual project (dissertation) undertaken during the summer under academic supervision. All taught modules are worth 20 credits. The programme includes one compulsory module and a selection of optional modules. Final module choices are published one month before the programme starts.

Entry requirements
Honours degreeA 2:2 honours degree in a relevant subject area (e.g., computer science) or an equivalent international qualification.
Evidence of programming, algorithms, data structures, mathematics, and a projectDemonstrated proficiency in programming (throughout the degree), algorithms and data structures, mathematical topics, and a relevant project. This can also be shown through professional experience with a signed employer reference.
IELTS6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in all sub-skills.
If your degree certificate or results are pending, upload interim transcripts or provisional certificates. If you have an acceptable alternative, such as an undergraduate degree studied in the UK, provide that instead of IELTS. Applicants requiring a UK Student visa must meet UKVI English language requirements.
