Entry requirements
International students residing abroadMust meet specific academic criteria for the chosen program and have completed or be expected to complete by September 30, 2026.
For programs in Mathematics, Physics, Earth and Planetary Systems Science, Chemistry, and Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (Environmental Natural Sciences): Must satisfy one of conditions (1) through (11) listed in the application guidelines.
For programs in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Systems and Control, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation and Environmental Systems, Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Information Science, and Smart Innovation: Must satisfy one of conditions (3), (6), or (10) listed in the application guidelines.
Conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Completion of 16 years of schooling in a foreign country and awarded a bachelor's degree.
- Completion of a course of at least 3 years at a foreign university accredited by its government, with a degree equivalent to a bachelor's.
- Completion of a specialized course at a Japanese vocational school (if meeting specific criteria).
- Individuals recognized by Hiroshima University as having equivalent academic ability to a university graduate and are at least 22 years old (requires pre-application screening).
- Individuals who have studied at a university for 3 years or more and have earned required credits with excellent grades (requires pre-application screening).
