This micro-credit course is designed for graduate students interested in developing AI Agents using Large Language Models (LLMs). It focuses on applying these skills to scientific research scenarios. The course covers foundational concepts of the OpenClaw framework, LLM programming with advanced techniques like Context Engineering, the design of AI Agents and Harness Engineering, and the integration of reusable Skill modules for automating research workflows. Students will begin by exploring the OpenClaw development framework and the AI Agent ecosystem. They will then delve into LLM programming, mastering techniques such as Prompt Engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). The curriculum progresses to Agent architecture design and Harness Engineering, enabling students to build intelligent agents capable of tool usage and multi-step reasoning. Finally, the course will teach students how to design reusable Skill modules to automate research processes. This program emphasizes hands-on application and research relevance, with practical coding outputs expected in each session. While a basic understanding of programming or experience with AI-assisted coding is beneficial, the course is structured for gradual learning, making it accessible to graduate students from diverse backgrounds.

Students must have access to and be willing to pay for AI services (Claude Pro is mandatory). A Mac laptop (MacBook Neo minimum) or Linux laptop is required, as Windows is not supported for programming questions. Familiarity with reading and modifying code is expected.
Micro-credit courses do not require tuition fees. Credit will be counted as free elective credits if approved by the department. 8 hours of study are equivalent to 0.5 credits.
