This BA degree allows you to combine the study of East Asian languages and cultures with another academic discipline. You will gain a broad understanding of East Asia as a region, exploring its complexities through various academic fields. The program structure is flexible, enabling you to study one or more East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) or to focus on a single language throughout your degree. You can start as a complete beginner or build upon existing language skills. Beyond language acquisition, you can progress to advanced modules in language-based literature and film, or undertake a language-focused dissertation.
For joint degrees with varying entry requirements, the offer will be based on the subject with the higher requirement. For this program, the range is AAB–ABB. Please refer to undergraduate entry requirements and English language requirements for international and alternative entry pathways.
Fees are for 2026/27 entrants.
