This Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in Architecture includes a foundation year, designed to provide you with a strong base before progressing to the main degree. The program is studio-centred, encouraging creative exploration and the development of original design work. You will learn to design spaces that are creative, functional, socially responsible, and technically informed, considering user needs, cultural context, materials, structures, and environmental challenges. The course emphasizes sustainability, including regenerative and low-carbon approaches, adaptive reuse, and circular material practices. You will also learn to use advanced digital tools, including AI, responsibly as a design support tool. The foundation year offers extra support to build skills, knowledge, and confidence, making it ideal if you are considering a career change or need a refresher before starting your degree. Successful completion of the foundation year leads directly into the first year of the honours degree without a separate application.
The BA (Hons) Architecture with Foundation Year is a continuous four-year program. The foundation year is designed to build your skills and confidence, followed by three years of degree study. An optional placement year can be taken between Year 2 and Year 3.
