BA (Hons) Fashion Design

This undergraduate BA (Hons) Fashion Design course offers a hands-on approach to design, encouraging you to push creative boundaries through experimental and industry-standard techniques in pattern cutting and garment construction. You will explore sustainable practices, diversity, and inclusion within the fashion industry. The curriculum focuses on creating designs in response to trends and technical innovations, developing a professional portfolio through industry-led briefs, live projects, and competitions, including a flagship tailoring project in partnership with Burberry. You will gain experience in computer-aided design (CAD) using industry-recognised software like Adobe Creative Suite and Clo3D. The course also emphasizes understanding the cultural, ethical, and environmental aspects of fashion. Students have the opportunity to undertake an optional placement year for valuable industry experience and will work in a dedicated final year studio space, potentially collaborating with MA students and industry professionals. The program is part of Fashion Alliance North, fostering collaboration between Northern universities and industry to strengthen fashion education and opportunities in the region.
