BA (Hons) Textile Design

The BA (Hons) Textile Design course at Chelsea College of Arts encourages an experimental and creative approach to textile design. You will learn to design using colour, materials, processes, and technologies across various textile specialisms including print, knit, stitch, weave, and smart textiles. The curriculum emphasizes developing ideas through projects, exploring responsible and sustainable design, innovation, and the intersection of textiles with fashion, the body, and spatial environments. The course integrates critical thinking about the global impact of the textile industry and fosters an understanding of climate, racial, and social justice within the field.

Curriculum

The BA (Hons) Textile Design is structured over three academic years, each consisting of 30 teaching weeks. You will engage in an average of 40 hours of study per week, combining teaching hours with independent study. The course includes foundational units in the first year, developing specialization and collaborative practices in the second, and focusing on professional futures in the third year.
