This is a three-year, full-time, intensive Bachelor of Arts Honours degree designed for individuals seriously committed to pursuing a career as an actor. Developed in consultation with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), the program offers a practical, skills-based curriculum taught by leading theatre practitioners from Ireland and the UK. It also features workshops and projects led by visiting international directors, actors, playwrights, and producers. The curriculum covers acting technique, voice, movement, and singing, alongside dramaturgy and text analysis, delivered over six semesters.

Entry requirements
IELTS6.5 (Band B Standard Entry)
Entry is by audition. Applicants must prepare a classical monologue, a contemporary monologue, and a reserve monologue (classical or contemporary), each no more than three minutes long. Successful candidates at the first audition proceed to further rounds assessing voice, movement, and group skills. Applications are encouraged from October for the following academic year, with the deadline at the beginning of February. First auditions typically occur between November and March.

How to apply
1. Submit Online ApplicationComplete the online application form on The Lir Academy website (www.thelir.ie) from October 2025 onwards. The final deadline for applications is the beginning of February 2026.
2. Prepare MonologuesPrepare a classical monologue, a contemporary monologue, and a reserve monologue (either classical or contemporary), each not exceeding three minutes in length, for the first audition.
3. Attend First AuditionFirst auditions will be held between November 2025 and March 2026.
4. Attend Further Audition RoundsSuccessful candidates from the first audition will be invited to further rounds where voice, movement, and group skills will be assessed.
