
This Bachelor of Communication program is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate the dynamic and ever-evolving communication sector. You will learn how to help organisations build credibility, foster trust, and increase brand awareness among their target audiences. The course covers a broad spectrum of communication fields, including advertising, public relations, digital communication, public affairs, and community relations. You will explore strategic communication theories and practices, with a particular emphasis on developing advertising and public relations campaigns. The curriculum also delves into contemporary communication planning, focusing on ethics, environmental considerations, diversity, and digital communication strategies. A key feature of the program is a final capstone unit where you will gain practical, hands-on experience in a creative agency setting, producing professional-standard work for real clients.
The course requires students to complete 240 credit points of core and core option units, along with 120 credit points of elective units. Students have the option to complete a four-unit, subject-based Elective Sequence, which can be recorded on their transcript as a minor. Alternatively, students can choose any other combination of major, minors, or elective units from various schools within the university.
This program prepares graduates for a variety of roles in the communication sector. You will develop skills applicable to a wide range of industries and organisations seeking to manage their public image, disseminate information effectively, and engage with diverse audiences.
Applicants without an ATAR can apply through the Creative Humanities Portfolio Entry pathway. All applicants must meet ECU's general admission and English language requirements.
