Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Dean's Scholar)

The Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Dean's Scholar) program is designed for high-achieving students aspiring to become Health and Physical Education teachers. This program offers an enhanced educational experience, focusing on developing professional knowledge and fostering engagement with the university's research culture. Dean's Scholars benefit from an academic mentor, extended library access, invitations to workshops and seminars, and networking events. There are also opportunities for part-time employment within the Faculty of Social Sciences or in research projects. A key component of this degree is compulsory Professional Experience in schools, with opportunities for placements in various regions of NSW, Australia, and even internationally in countries like Thailand, China, and Malaysia. This practical experience is crucial for developing the skills needed for a successful teaching career.

Curriculum

The Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (Dean's Scholar) requires the successful completion of 192 credit points, including 30 core subjects, 1 elective subject, and embedded Professional Experience components. Students must maintain a minimum weighted average mark of 80 from Year 2 onwards to remain in the Dean's Scholar program. All core subjects must be passed, along with the Literacy and Numeracy Test (LANTITE), to be eligible for final professional experience and graduation.
