Prepare for a career in patient care by completing the Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program at one of the four IECC campuses. This program combines classroom instruction with clinical hours at local hospitals, meeting the certification requirements set by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to take a written competency test administered by SIU-C on IECC campuses. Passing this test allows you to work as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in the healthcare field. CNAs provide essential patient care, including bathing, grooming, feeding, assisting with medical equipment, and monitoring vital signs, while offering crucial social and emotional support and reporting patient conditions to nurses.
