Stony Brook University offers an advanced graduate certificate in Bilingual Education, fully online. This 16-credit program is designed for fluent bilingual speakers who already hold a relevant New York State Education Department (NYSED) certificate. Curriculum

Entry requirements
Master's DegreeMust hold a master's degree or be enrolled in a master's degree program from an accredited institution. If currently enrolled in a master's program, undergraduate transcripts are also required.
Teaching CertificationMust be a practicing, professionally licensed, in-service teacher seeking an additional certification, or currently enrolled in a teaching certification program.
Graduate GPAMinimum GPA of 3.0. Exceptions may be considered with appropriate documentation and at the program director's discretion.
ACTFL OPIAdvanced Low or above
For languages other than Spanish, please contact the Program Director to discuss potential pathways. Transcripts should be sent electronically from the issuing institution directly to spd_transcripts@stonybrook.edu. Do not send application materials to the Graduate School.
