This four-year BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) with Foundation Year program is designed for students who may not meet the standard entry requirements for a degree. The foundation year provides essential knowledge and skills in health and social care, preparing you for successful degree-level study and professional practice. While the foundation year itself is not accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), successful completion allows progression to the NMC-approved BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree. You will gain the skills to become a confident and competent adult nurse, eligible to apply for registration with the NMC upon graduation. The curriculum emphasizes practical learning, simulated environments, and clinical placements to ensure you are well-prepared for a career in nursing.
Curriculum
The course includes a foundation year followed by three years of degree study. Learning incorporates interactive, practical, and online teaching methods. Across the final three years, you will complete 2,300 hours of theory and 2,300 hours of practice, including 600 hours in simulation. The teaching approach is designed to make you work-ready upon graduation, with an emphasis on adaptability, innovation, and collaboration.
