This two-year Ontario College Diploma program equips you with the fundamental accounting principles and practical skills essential for a career in accounting. You'll learn general accounting concepts, gain hands-on experience with spreadsheets and databases, and become proficient in using industry-standard accounting and tax software like Sage 50, MS Access, and Profile. The first year includes a common business curriculum, providing a solid understanding of how businesses operate across various departments such as communications, finance, human resources, and marketing. This program is recognized by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), granting graduates exemptions for specific ACCA qualification papers (BT, MA, FA). Students also benefit from a free membership to Sheridan EDGE, an entrepreneurship hub focused on developing changemaking and entrepreneurial skills. The program is offered at both the Davis Campus in Brampton and the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga.
The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in accounting and business principles over four semesters.
Graduates are prepared for various roles in accounting and finance departments.
Applicants who do not meet the direct admission requirements may be considered as mature students if they are at least 19 years old and have missing prerequisites.
