This course provides hands-on skills for a career in engineering fabrication, focusing on designing, machining, and welding metal structures. It's designed for apprentices in the engineering fabrication trade, offering a formal, recognised qualification to complement on-the-job training. Through classroom learning and practical tasks, you will develop the skills needed to make and repair steel and other metal products and structures. Key topics include occupational health and safety, drawing interpretation, thermal processes, fabrication techniques, and finishing. Upon completion, you will possess the skills, confidence, and experience for roles in metal engineering, manufacturing, and related industries. The qualification ensures you meet industry standards and can work as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication, with skills in metal fabrication, structural steel erection, sheet metal work, and various welding processes conforming to Australian/International Standards.
To complete the MEM31925 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, you need to achieve 96 credit points. This includes all core units (33 points), a minimum of 40 elective points from specified groups (with a focus on Group D for the Boilermaking/welding specialisation), and up to 23 elective points from Group H to reach the total. Some elective units can be chosen from other endorsed training packages if they suit a fabrication trade environment.
Graduates will have the skills and knowledge for employment as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication within the metal, engineering, manufacturing, and associated industries. You will be qualified for roles involving metal fabrication, structural steel erection, sheet metal work, and welding.
