Stony Brook University offers unique combined Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in French, Italian, or Spanish. These programs are designed for students who wish to earn a BA with a double major in Linguistics and a foreign language, and subsequently pursue a MAT. Graduates will be eligible for dual teacher certification in English as a Second Language/English as a New Language (ESL/ENL) for grades K-12, and in their chosen foreign language (French, Italian, or Spanish) for grades 7-12. This accelerated path allows for the completion of both degrees and certifications in approximately five years, making graduates highly marketable to employers in the education sector.
Curriculum
