The Computational Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM) program at UT Austin offers a premier graduate experience focused on interdisciplinary study. This program is primarily structured as a PhD track, designed for students whose ultimate goal is doctoral research. Students admitted to the PhD program may also earn a Master's degree within the CSEM framework along the way. All PhD applicants are considered for funding opportunities such as fellowships and research assistantships. The Master's program is a terminal degree and does not provide a pathway to the PhD program. A limited number of students are admitted to the Master's program annually, and funding is not available for Master's students. The CSEM Program is an intercollegiate initiative, not housed within a single traditional department but drawing faculty and resources from across the university.
International applicants must meet minimum English proficiency requirements. Waivers may be available for applicants with a bachelor's degree from a U.S. institution or an institution in a country where English is the sole official language. Master's degrees from such institutions do not qualify for a waiver. GRE scores are not required or reviewed.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field utilizing advanced mathematical modeling, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.
The application deadline for Fall admission is December 10, 2025.
You must complete both the central Graduate School application and a program-specific departmental application. Supporting documents include transcripts, Statement of Purpose, Resume/CV, and three letters of recommendation.
