Pontificia Universidad Javeriana offers short, intensive courses in Data Science and Design Thinking, delivered by world-renowned scholar Professor Jennifer Widom. These programs are designed to equip students with essential skills in data analysis, manipulation, and visualization, as well as the principles of design thinking. The Data Science course is primarily for engineering students with programming experience, while the Design Thinking course is suitable for advanced high school students and those in engineering and design fields. Both courses emphasize interaction with students from diverse institutions and regions across Colombia.
The Data Science course is a 3-day intensive program covering an overview of data science, data analysis using spreadsheets, and data visualization. The Design Thinking course is a 1-day program. Specific module details are provided for the Data Science course.
Students must be officially registered in the most recent academic period (first semester of 2022). A letter of recommendation from an academic authority of the student's institution is required. For the Data Science course, 20 seats are guaranteed for engineering schools members of ACOFI.
Applicants must be excellent engineering students with some programming skills, officially registered for the first semester of 2022. A letter of recommendation from an academic authority is also required.
The Design Thinking course is suitable for advanced high school students, or university students in engineering and design fields. Applicants must be officially registered for the first semester of 2022 and provide a letter of recommendation.
The Data Science course is a 3-day intensive program. The Design Thinking course is a 1-day program.
The courses were scheduled for July 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2022.
Both courses are taught by Professor Jennifer Widom, Dean of Engineering at Stanford University.
