It covers fundamental principles, including elastic design, partial safety factors, probabilistic design, and failure design. Students will learn to identify design loads, perform structural analysis, and understand material behavior for reinforced concrete. The curriculum delves into the ultimate and serviceability limit states for beams, including reinforcement detailing and shear design. It also covers the design of one-way, two-way, and continuous slabs using simplified methods and introduces the strip method for complex slab designs. Column design, focusing on buckling sensitivity and reinforcement detailing, is also addressed. Finally, the course introduces the strut and tie method for designing elements like walls, foundation blocks, and deep beams.
