Victoria University's integrated Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program offers an alternative pathway to doctoral study, providing intensive research training across a wide range of disciplines. The first year focuses on developing essential research methodologies. Upon successful completion of the first year with an average of 70%, students will commence their original research, aiming to complete the PhD within the standard timeframe. The program equips students with the skills to present their research effectively in various academic and professional settings. Students will benefit from expert supervision within research groups focusing on 'Sustainable industries and liveable cities'. Research areas include artificial intelligence, business and financial systems, climate change, cultural diversity, economic modelling, education, fire engineering, governance, Indigenous cultures, packaging design, resilient communities, technology for future industries, tourism innovation, and urban planning. This program allows for in-depth study and contribution to knowledge in your chosen field, with opportunities to publish findings and present at conferences. Students will develop critical thinking, advanced research methodologies, and the ability to disseminate new insights.
Curriculum
The integrated PhD program requires students to complete specific coursework units in the first year and a research thesis. Elective units are available for industry internships after confirmation of candidature.
