
This MEng programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering includes a foundation year designed for students who may not have the standard scientific or mathematical background for direct entry into an engineering degree. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, you will automatically progress to the first year of the full MEng degree. This course explores key areas such as power systems, power electronics, digital electronics, circuits, devices, electrical machines, and drives, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. The foundation year focuses on developing essential skills in mathematics, physics, and laboratory work to prepare you for the main degree, using the same teaching and assessment styles as the undergraduate courses.
The programme includes a foundation year followed by the main MEng degree. The curriculum for the main degree is subject to revision, but the foundation year modules are designed to build essential skills for engineering studies.

A foundation year is available for students who do not meet the standard academic or mathematical entry requirements for an engineering degree. Students who successfully complete the foundation year will automatically progress to the first year of the MEng degree. Some departments may require a higher English language score. Conditional offers may be made subject to achieving the required English level before the programme starts.
