The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program is a ministry-approved certificate program designed to enhance your English language skills for success in college or university studies. This intensive, full-time program focuses on developing academic communication abilities in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You will engage in various learning activities, including communicative tasks, interactive exercises, group work, and presentations, within a supportive college environment. Access to resources like tutoring, the library, and counselling is also provided. The EAP program utilizes a hybrid delivery model. Each level consists of a 20-hour course divided into Core Integrated Skills (16 hours) and Specialized Skills (4 hours). The Core component includes in-person classes, synchronous Zoom sessions, and asynchronous activities. The Specialized Skills component also involves synchronous and asynchronous learning. An in-person lab class is included to build technological skills, support asynchronous work, and facilitate in-person evaluations. Upon completion of EAP, graduates can pursue direct pathways to college communication courses. The program is suitable for those looking to improve their English for academic purposes and not intended for absolute beginners or native English speakers.
