This Master's program offers an interdisciplinary approach to specializing in the Media Discourse of the English Language. It combines theoretical knowledge with empirical research to explore the role of English in global contexts, focusing on language, culture, and literature. Students will gain subject-specific expertise and develop transferable skills valuable for academic, professional, and creative fields. The program allows for flexibility through compulsory and elective courses, enabling students to tailor their studies.
The study plan focuses on the interaction between language, media, and society. Core subjects include media linguistics, semantics, discourse analysis, and contemporary methods in linguistics and communication. Elective courses allow students to explore cognitive linguistics, language use, media texts and discourses, identity, and culture. Throughout the program, students develop skills in academic, public, and media discourse analysis, research methodology, and critical evaluation.
Graduates will be equipped to assess the impact of cultural, political, and social contexts on language, reflect on cultural phenomena in a global context, work in interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to media and cultural processes responsibly and creatively.
Native speakers or those whose previous studies were conducted in English are exempt from English language proficiency tests. Applicants from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan must also submit an OMPT-C Certificate with a minimum passing grade of 55%.
