The Graduate Diploma Graphic Design at Chelsea College of Arts is designed for individuals with a Bachelor of Arts degree, who may not have a specific background in graphic design, but wish to enhance their knowledge and skills. The course focuses on developing your graphic design abilities, research methods, and critical thinking within a dynamic and culturally diverse environment. It aims to prepare you for further postgraduate study or to enter professional practice. You will engage with integrated practice and theory, fostering independent thought and experimental approaches. The curriculum also emphasizes design writing, ethical considerations in design (such as climate, social, and racial justice), and understanding contemporary contexts for design research.
Curriculum
The course is structured around key areas of design practice, research, and writing, delivered through a combination of on-campus and self-directed learning. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, critiques, and study visits. Assessment is based on design submissions, presentations, research portfolios, and written work.

Entry requirements
BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree or equivalent academic qualificationA BA (Hons) degree or equivalent academic qualification is required. Evidence of ability in art or design is also necessary. Alternative qualifications and experience will be considered. Entry is also dependent on the quality of your application, particularly your portfolio and personal statement.
Applications are assessed based on the quality of the portfolio of work and personal statement. A video task is also part of the application process. Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements may be considered if they can demonstrate additional strengths and alternative evidence through Accreditation of Prior (Experiential) Learning (APEL).
Fees
