The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) is a conversion course designed for graduates who do not hold a law degree but wish to pursue a career in the legal profession as a solicitor or barrister. This entirely online program allows you to study flexibly from anywhere, covering the foundational legal subjects required for the vocational stage of legal training. You will learn through a virtual learning environment supported by online activities and be taught by experienced legal professionals and academics.

Entry requirements
DegreeAt least a second-class honours degree or equivalent experience/training.
Barrister QualificationFor aspiring barristers: a UK/Republic of Ireland degree (2:2 or above), a Certificate of Academic Standing from the Bar Standards Board, or approval as a mature student by the Bar Standards Board.

Technical requirements for distance learning include a broadband internet connection (2mbps), compatible operating systems (Windows 7/Mac OSX 10.8+), modern web browsers (Chrome v63+, Edge v42+, Firefox v57+, Safari v6+), and Java/Adobe Acrobat Reader enabled. A minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 is also needed.

Tuition (international)£11,850 per year for students entering in 2026/27. This fee is fixed for each year of your course.
