If your native language is not English and you have not had at least three years of instruction in English, you must provide evidence of English proficiency. Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to UCSB Office of Admissions by the December test date prior to enrollment. TOEFL, IELTS, and DET scores are valid for two years from the exam date and must be available in July prior to enrollment. UC does not accept IELTS One Skill Retake or MyBest TOEFL; only the highest composite score from a single sitting is allowed. The digital SAT Reading and Writing score is not accepted for English proficiency.
