The Bachelor's degree program in Industrial Biotechnology focuses on harnessing biological processes for technological applications. You will learn about biological and biochemical processes in microorganisms, plant, and animal cell cultures, and how to utilize them for substance production. The curriculum covers creating optimal growth conditions for cells, planning and managing technical processes, and handling bioreactors, laboratory techniques, and product preparation. You will also explore process optimization through computer simulations.
The program is structured over six semesters, providing a comprehensive understanding of industrial biotechnology. The curriculum includes a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, covering fundamental scientific principles and specialized biotechnological processes.

Note: This degree program will be renamed “Biotechnology” in the winter semester 2026/2027.
All students are required to pay a semester contribution which covers administrative costs and a contribution to the student union. This contribution also includes a semester ticket for public transport.
