The Light Engineering Bachelor's program offers practice-oriented studies in one of the fastest-growing high-tech fields. You will be taught by leading professors and scientists in light technology and lasers, and gain practical skills using modern growth and characterization equipment at Vilnius University. The curriculum focuses on building a deep understanding of physics, chemistry, electronics, and mathematics as they relate to light, with specific modules covering laser and semiconductor physics, optics, optoelectronics, digital modeling, and smart lighting systems.
Entry requirements
High school / secondary education (or higher)Grades in Physics and Mathematics must not be lower than 55% of the maximum possible grade. For non-EU/EFTA applicants, the gap since completing secondary education should not exceed five years.

A motivation letter is required. Candidates meeting the criteria will be invited for a motivational interview to assess their determination to study in a technology field based on experimental work. First language English speakers or those with a university degree in English are exempt from English language tests.

How to apply
1. Create an application accountRegister on the Vilnius University application portal.
2. Check application datesFor international applicants: 1 May for non-EU/EFTA countries, 1 July for EU/EFTA citizens. The academic year begins on 1 September.
3. Check eligibility and prepare documentsMeet general, program-specific, and language proficiency requirements. For non-EU/EFTA, the gap since secondary education must not exceed 5 years. Prepare necessary documents as per country-specific requirements.
4. Pay the application feeSubmit your application and pay the 100 EUR non-refundable application fee via Flywire. Your application is processed only after the fee is collected and all documents are submitted.
5. Take the motivational interviewEligible candidates will be invited for an interview to assess their suitability for the program.
6. Confirm acceptance and pay tuition feeYou will be notified of the admission decision within 30 days. Accept the offer within 7 working days. Non-EU students must pay the annual tuition fee within 15 calendar days of the offer.
7. Arrange your arrivalAfter paying the tuition fee, you will receive a final acceptance letter. Arrange for a visa/residence permit, and apply for accommodation if needed through the application platform.
