LLB Law

The LLB Law at Goldsmiths is a qualifying law degree, marking your first step towards becoming a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. This program is designed to equip you with all the necessary skills for the next stages of your legal career. It emphasizes a rich heritage of social awareness and engagement, focusing on human rights, social justice, and the international rule of law. The curriculum is structured to anticipate the new Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE), with integrated training and an optional SQE module in your final year. You'll also benefit from discounted access to SQE preparation with BARBRI. The course goes beyond traditional legal studies, incorporating skills from areas like big data and social media, and offering optional modules in creative arts, humanities, and social sciences such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, art, and media. Experiential learning is a key feature, with opportunities to visit institutions like the Supreme Court and Old Bailey, attend parliamentary committees, and engage with relevant cultural events. You will learn from eminent legal thinkers, leading barristers, politicians, and a diverse range of guest speakers from legal practice, NGOs, and the technology sector.

Curriculum

The LLB Law is a three-year full-time program. The first year focuses on compulsory modules to build a strong foundation. In the second and third years, you have the flexibility to specialise by choosing from a range of law option modules and interdisciplinary subjects.
