MA Education: Creativity, Policy and Society

This Master of Arts program focuses on advancing your professional practice through creative, critical, and research-informed approaches to teaching and learning, with a specific emphasis on the application to educational policy and practice. It is designed for educators and practitioners across diverse fields, including teachers, writers, artists, language educators, cultural practitioners, youth workers, and professionals in educational, social, and cultural sectors. You will critically examine how education functions within complex social, cultural, and institutional systems, reflecting on your own professional environments while developing advanced strategies for teaching, facilitation, curriculum design, educational leadership, policy, and practice. The program encourages exploration of how educational practices can foster creativity, participation, and learning in various formal and informal settings. Through engagement with Goldsmiths' established community partners, you will investigate the design, mediation, and experience of learning, and how educational policies and practices adapt to social change, cultural diversity, and new knowledge production. A core element of the MA is a shared commitment to researching professional practice, allowing you to specialize in areas such as Creative Writing and Education, Arts and Learning, Languages, or Inclusive Education, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and Educational Leadership.

Curriculum

The MA is structured around four broad specialisms, which are intentionally flexible and interdisciplinary. You are encouraged to work across these areas as appropriate. The program includes compulsory modules and a final project, with a selection of optional modules available.
