This Master's level course focuses on the complete lifecycle of a marine project, from initial planning and execution to disseminating the findings. You will learn essential skills for managing projects, including budgeting, designing statistically sound sampling methods, evaluating the cost-effectiveness of different measurements, and communicating effectively with stakeholders through written reports and oral presentations. The course utilizes problem-based learning (PBL) to provide a realistic and transferable learning experience, with each group receiving mentorship throughout their assignments. A significant practical component includes a scientific cruise on the research vessel Skagerak to monitor an anoxic fjord, involving hands-on experience with sampling, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results.
