This Master of Arts program in Community Education (M.A. RPGP) focuses on developing competencies for the complex challenges of globalization, secularization, and religious plurality. The program aims to foster theological language skills applicable in secular contexts and interreligious competence in diverse settings. It also explores peace education and its practical applications. The program is designed for individuals seeking to deepen their understanding and practice in fields related to community and religious education.
Graduates are prepared for specialized or leadership roles in innovative areas within church-related child and youth work, adult and senior education, community work, and specific target group and gender-specific offerings, as well as church and diaconal organizations and services. The degree also opens the possibility for subsequent doctoral studies.
Please note that as of the Summer Semester 2026, the Master's program will exclusively offer the Community Education profile. Information regarding the previous Religious Education specialization is no longer applicable. Students in the Community Education profile (Profile B) working in church-related fields will receive normal remuneration for at least one-third of a standard service contract. Students in the Religious Education profile (Profile A) teaching within the Württemberg regional church receive remuneration starting from the second semester. A request for study assistance can be made for the first semester. Practice periods in other formats may be recognized under certain conditions upon application.
