Entry into each major is subject to specific approved fields of Engineering and cognate degrees. Previous tertiary study, preparation courses, English language courses, or vocational education can also be used to demonstrate English proficiency. For domestic students, completion of Year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level may also satisfy English requirements.

The Master of Engineering Practice course is fully accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer, recognized under the Washington Accord. Specific majors (Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering, Smart and Renewable Electrical Power Systems Engineering, Intelligent Industrial Control and Autonomous Systems Engineering) are also fully accredited.
Applicants need a four-year Engineering degree accredited by Engineers Australia or equivalent under the Washington Accord. Non-Washington Accord degrees with prior studies in Engineering or Engineering Technology may also be considered.
