The Master of Mental Health program at La Trobe University is designed to deepen your understanding of mental health through a systematic analysis and reflection on the connection between theory and clinical practice. This program offers strong, evidence-based learning, combined with the development of essential clinical skills and lifelong learning strategies to support your career growth. Students will need satisfactory computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and online meeting programs such as Zoom, as these platforms will be used throughout the course and in assessment tasks. The qualification awarded is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as a Level 9 Master's Degree. The program can be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent. Students also have the flexibility to exit the degree early with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.
Entry requirements
Australian bachelor's degreeHealth-related degree (or equivalent) is required.
Applicants must be working as a Registered Allied Health Professional in mental health and hold a current practising certificate with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with no restrictions to practice. Alternatively, health professionals not eligible for AHPRA registration must be a member of a professional association related to mental health and working in a professional role in mental health care (e.g., social workers). Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place, as entry is competitive and subject to availability.

Fees are based on an annual load of 120 credit points unless stated otherwise. Fees may change yearly, typically with an increase not exceeding seven percent per year. Increases take effect on January 1st of the following year. Tuition fees cover the cost of teaching, learning, and academic supervision. International students will receive a Statement of Account listing tuition fees and their due dates, which are generally 21 days before the Census date. Initial tuition deposits are required to accept an offer and are detailed in the offer letter.
