This Master of Nursing Practice program is designed for graduates of any bachelor's degree discipline who wish to transition into a career as a registered nurse. The course provides a comprehensive pathway to develop essential clinical nursing skills and theoretical knowledge. Over two years of full-time study, you will gain practical experience through 800 hours of clinical placements in diverse healthcare settings, including metropolitan, regional, and rural hospitals and healthcare providers. The curriculum covers crucial areas such as acute and chronic illness care, Indigenous health, mental health, rehabilitation, and community care. Students will have the opportunity to hone their skills in advanced nursing simulation labs located at La Trobe's Melbourne, Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, and Mildura campuses. The qualification awarded is recognised as a Level 9 Master's Degree under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Curriculum
The Master of Nursing Practice program covers a broad range of nursing specialities and foundational knowledge required for practice. Students will develop core competencies in patient care, biosciences, and research methodologies. The curriculum also emphasizes the development of essential soft skills.

Entry requirements
Australian Bachelor's degree or equivalentSuccessful completion of an Australian bachelor degree or its equivalent is required.
All international students must complete the 'Sociocultural Concepts in Health Care' bridging course. If your prior undergraduate degree is not cognate (related to health sciences), you will also need to complete the 'Bridging Course in Physiology and Anatomy'. Students will be notified of required bridging courses upon application. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee an offer.
